Walt Disney Teaches Best Marketing Tactics

Hey everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t written in awhile. I find myself getting busier and busier these days! God has been so good to me and my husband. Currently, we are preparing to head off to Disney World at the end of the month with his family. We are so excited since we haven’t been to DW since our honeymoon four and a half years ago!

Speaking of Disney World, have you ever noticed how effective their marketing strategies are? Unless you have been living in a hole in the ground with no television, you have probably seen at least one Disney commercial. The most recent one that I find pulls at my heartstrings is the one where the family finds that they can afford a Disney vacation, and a magical coach pulls up in front of their house, ready to whisk them away. Everywhere you go, you can see a touch of Disney. Whether you see a t-shirt someone is wearing, a movie Disney created, or even just the Mickey ears, Disney has definitely stamped its emblem on our culture.

Marketing is synonymous with successful business. You may not have the empire of Walt Disney, but you can still find ways to market your business just as effectively. The key is to consider your target market. What are their interests? their desires for a company with which to work? How can you best appeal to them?

Decide what your best approach could be to grab a potential client’s attention. Some companies focus on something unique that is happening that month and send their client a little “souvenir” for that month. For example, one professional sent her clients bags of popcorn to celebrate National Popcorn Month. You could print your contact information on the outside of the package.

Another great way to market is to consider sponsoring a charitable event, such as the Race for the Cure (for breast cancer) or walking for the American Heart Association. Get a team together, have t-shirts printed with your logo on them, and participate in something that will make you look good and benefit a worthy cause!

Of course, I can’t discuss marketing without mentioning press releases and sales letters. If you don’t know how to write an effective press release, contact someone who can. Your next step is to send it out to newspapers and magazines. Research the publication beforehand to see if they feature businesses such as yours. Then send your press release to the editor of the section where you want to see your business featured. Sales letters are also effective if crafted in an interesting and informational way. Consider sending a small token with your letter with your company name and contact information (such as a pen or a calendar).

No matter what marketing tactics you choose, remember that some will probably fail for you. That’s okay. Just try something new until you find the tactic that is most successful. Soon you will see your business growing.

To your success,

Katie
