As you can see, my website is still in the construction process, but my business is up and running. My strength lies in writing and editing, and I am learning the virtual assistant business. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to actually “be my own boss.”

Many people do not realize that writers and editors are needed in every business from banking firms to grocery stores. Who do you think composes the reports of quarterly earnings or creates press releases for the newspapers and magazines? Yes, writing is an important aspect of every day life!

I recently read a report that marketing firms are utilizing contract writers rather than in-house staff. According to the report, a few years ago many marketing firms laid off much of their staff in an effort to cut costs. Now those marketing firms are realizing how important writers are to their business, so they are contracting the work to independent writers. The future of business writers is looking up!

In a society that is becoming more and more illiterate, writers are fighting to make themselves heard (or read)! Begin developing your writing skills by keeping a journal of your everyday activities. Just training yourself to write down details can develop your skills for a future career as a writer. And who knows? Someday, your journal may become your autobiography!
